My Playlist For NaNoWriMo

When I write the first draft of a story, I always think of it as a movie.

To help with the flow of the story, I think of what its soundtrack would be.

Every story I write has a playlist that is based on the genre, theme, and mood of that story.

So, for NaNoWriMo, I have created a playlist for the novel I will be working on in November.

The playlist will get me in the zone for my story, inspire me with plot twists, provide themes for the characters, and will help me get a first draft done by the end of the month.

Rather than list every single song — because there are a lot! — I will describe my story and the soundtracks and albums I have chosen and why.

My NaNoWriMo Novel

So, the working title of my novel is Rex Scottorum — King of the Scots.

The story is set in a dystopian world, where Scotland has achieved independence but has been turned into a desolate and miserable country, ruled by an evil dictator — The First Leader.

Scotland’s only hope to be freed from the First Leader’s tyranny rests on a young man, James Allan Stewart…
